A three-day toy fair is set to kick off on July 8 in New Delhi, with an expected attendance of around 5,000 buyers and industry players from at least 25 countries, as announced by the Toy Association of India on Monday. The event will also see the presence of CEOs from 20 global sourcing companies, including Walmart and Lego.
Over 250 Indian brands will be showcasing their products at the fair, which will take place at Pragati Maidan. Toy Association of India Chairman Manu Gupta highlighted that the 14th Toy Biz International B2B Expo 2023 is the largest fair in South Asia, providing Indian toy makers with a valuable opportunity to display their products to a global audience.
Gupta emphasized that the expo serves as a platform for networking and collaboration within the industry, leading to new business opportunities, innovations, and access to new markets. He also mentioned that the event aims to drive innovation in the Indian toy industry by facilitating discussions on trends, technologies, and best practices.
CEO of Wooden toy maker Little Genius Toys, Naresh Kumar Gautam, expressed his belief that events like these help position India as a key player in the global toy market, attracting investment and support from stakeholders worldwide. He noted the significant growth of the Indian toy industry in recent years, attributing it to government measures that have propelled the sector forward.
Gautam revealed that his company, along with playground equipment maker Maskeen Toys, will be signing agreements with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (Philippines) during the fair, with advance payments already received. Director of Maskeen Toys, Sahibjeet Singh, credited government initiatives such as increased import duties for the sector’s growth, enabling them to export to regions like the UAE, Central Africa, Australia, and the Philippines.
