Punjab Agriculture Minister Proposes Setting Up Mega Food Park in Bathinda to Boost Agricultural Productivity and Farmers’ Income
The proposal to set up a Mega Food Park in Bathinda, Punjab, is a significant step towards enhancing agricultural productivity and increasing farmers’ income. The initiative, put forth by Punjab Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Food Processing Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian, aims to leverage perishable agricultural produce by manufacturing processed food products for both domestic and export markets.
During a meeting with Union Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan, Minister Khudian highlighted the importance of creating employment opportunities and increasing farmers’ income through value addition to their produce. The proposed Mega Food Park in Bathinda, in the Malwa region, holds great potential for boosting the agricultural sector in Punjab.
With the success of the Mega Food Park in Ladhowal, Ludhiana, Minister Khudian expressed confidence in the state’s ability to support another Mega Food Park in the Malwa region. He assured that the state government would provide adequate land for the project, emphasizing the need for such infrastructure to benefit farmers and the economy.
Additionally, Minister Khudian urged the Union Minister to release the 4th installment of grant-in-aid for the Ladhowal Mega Food Park and requested a Food Testing Laboratory for Amritsar. These initiatives would support food processing enterprises, traders, and associations in ensuring the quality and safety of their products.
The proposal for a Mega Food Park in Bathinda reflects the government’s commitment to promoting agriculture and food processing industries in Punjab. With the support of both state and central authorities, this initiative has the potential to transform the agricultural landscape and create new opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs.
