Federal Government Supplies 20 Trucks of Rice to Each State and FCT to Reduce Hardship
In a recent development, Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) has taken a proactive step to ensure that food is made available to Nigerians amidst the current challenges facing the country. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, announced that the government has directed the Minister of Agriculture to supply about 20 trucks of rice to each state and the Federal Capital Territory.
This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to address the hardship experienced by Nigerians, particularly in terms of food shortages and high food prices. Each truck is carrying approximately 1,200 25kg bags of rice, which will be distributed to the most vulnerable populations in each state.
In addition to the rice distribution, the government is also making efforts to ensure the availability of fertilizers for farmers across the country. The Central Bank of Nigeria has already provided over 2.1 million bags of assorted fertilizers to the Ministry of Agriculture for distribution to the states.
Furthermore, the FEC has directed the presidential Committee on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to expedite its activities in supplying buses and conversion kits at affordable costs to Nigerians. This move aims to reduce the over-reliance on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and facilitate the transition to renewable energy sources.
The government is also engaging in consultations with various stakeholders, including the National Labour Congress and the Organised Private Sector, to address issues such as minimum wage and budgetary support. The goal is to come up with solutions that benefit all Nigerians and ensure a more sustainable future for the country.
Overall, these measures demonstrate the government’s commitment to alleviating the challenges faced by Nigerians and improving the overall well-being of the population. By providing essential food items, supporting agriculture, and promoting renewable energy, the government is taking steps in the right direction towards a more prosperous and resilient Nigeria.
